If you’re at all interested in design or craft please watch Final Marks: The Art of the Carved Letter. The short documentary explores the work and tradition of the John Stevens Shop in Newport, Rhode Island, one of the oldest lettercutting shops in America.
The visually spectacular Connected is a sci-fi short film set in an apocalyptic wasteland. Included in the film’s website is a section dedicated to the poster above, where the designers at Barq used the 70’s posters of Solaris, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Silent Running for inspiration. I always enjoy seeing how a creative project comes together, and the Connected website contains a great overview. Connected was screened in September ‘09 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and I’ll be patiently awaiting its release in the United States.
