Paul Smith and A List Apart, the venerable interactive design publication, have a fantastic article discussing open source online mapping tools. In projects involving maps and related information I often wish for more control over the visual interface than what Google Maps provides. It’s nice to see some alternatives exist.

OTTO is an electronic musical instrument for realtime manual beat slicing of audio samples.

Thermochromic Display

A slow resolution display made out of standard lightbulbs and thermochromic paint.

This display lives at the intersection of digital control and analog output. A matrix of lightbulbs painted with thermochromic paint allows for an image to appear and dissipate analogously to the temperature of each bulb.
